A Dual-Polarized Planar Antenna Array Differentially-Fed by Orthomode Transducer

This article presents a new design of differentially fed substrate integrated planar antenna array with dual-polarization. Compared the traditional dual-polarized arrays, proposed has advantages simple configuration, high cross-polarization discrimination (XPD), and gain. The 2×2-element subarray via-loaded crossover structure is used, which reduces complexity antenna. operation bandwidth improved by generating three resonances in subarray. An 8×8 designed, prototyped, tested to exemplify its potential applications large arrays. A orthomode transducer used achieve differential excitation for array. measured results show that an impedance 19.2-20.7 GHz |S 11 | <; -10 dB port isolation higher than 20 dB. exhibits XPD 43 flat gain about 22.2 dBi within bandwidth.
